Scottsdale Client FAQs

How often should I get a facial?
Every four to six weeks is the sweet spot — that matches your skin's natural renewal cycle. If you're treating acne, congestion or pigmentation, we may start closer together for the first few visits and then space you out on a maintenance plan.
How long should my hair be before a wax?
About a quarter inch, roughly two to three weeks of growth. Shorter than that and the wax can't grip; much longer and the service is more uncomfortable. Skip shaving between appointments so we can keep you on a smooth four-week rhythm.
Does waxing hurt, and how do I prep?
There's a quick sting, but hard wax on sensitive areas makes it very manageable. Exfoliate gently a day or two before, arrive clean and dry, avoid caffeine and retinoids for 24 hours, and consider an over-the-counter pain reliever 30 minutes prior if you're sensitive.
Is a facial or wax safe if I'm pregnant or on acne medication?
Pregnancy-safe facials and most waxing are absolutely fine — we simply adjust products and avoid certain actives. If you're on Accutane, tretinoin or another prescription retinoid, waxing is off the table until you've been off it for six months, so let me know at booking.
What's your cancellation and late policy?
Please give 24 hours' notice to reschedule. Later than that or a no-show holds 50% of the service. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may mean a shortened treatment so the next guest still starts on time.
How much does a facial cost in Phoenix?
A&A Studio facials range from $85 to $150: Signature Facial $85, Dermaplaning Facial $110, Microdermabrasion Facial $120 and Deluxe Dermaplaning $150. Optional add-ons, including a Hydro Jelly Mask or Neck & Décolleté Treatment, are $20 each.
Which facial is best for dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin?
The Signature Facial is the best starting point for dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin because it is customized during your consultation. We can focus on barrier-supportive hydration and add a Hydro Jelly Mask when appropriate, while avoiding exfoliation that may be too stimulating.
How many days before an event should I book a facial?
For a first facial or a treatment that includes extractions, booking three to seven days before an important event gives your skin time to settle. If you've had the treatment before and your skin responds well, Amber can help choose the right timing for a pre-event glow.
What should I avoid before a Brazilian or bikini wax?
Let hair grow to about a quarter inch and do not shave between appointments. Gently exfoliate 48 hours before, avoid sun exposure on the area, and stop retinoids or exfoliating acids there for three to five days. Tell us about Accutane or prescription retinoids before booking.
How can I prevent ingrown hairs after waxing?
Keep the area cool and covered in loose, breathable clothing for 24 hours, then resume gentle exfoliation after three days. Avoid picking at bumps, moisturize regularly and return about every four weeks so hair stays on a consistent growth cycle.
